europe has been a laboratory and pioneer of avant-garde electronic music for over a century. avant-garde simply means being ahead of your time and daring to do things that have not yet been heard, realized or thought of. to be guided by one’s own personality, one’s own thoughts and one’s own experiences and not by the successful models of the past.
how might a new european electronic music sound that originates from itself and the personalities of its creators? radical? elegant? deconstructed? reconstructed? a mixture of everything?
for the european capital of culture chemnitz 2025, we were looking for bold new concepts, compositions and groundbreaking recorded music of all genres. an international jury awarded the best submissions in five artistic categories.
