»sonopeutic smooth sailing« is a meditation on semi-serious self-help through extreme sonic manipulation. the 12 plastic and concrète dream/mare-scapes of watered-down and for-profit thanatotherapy comprising this album explore the line where new-age imagery devolves into cronenberg-esque mut(il)ations, spewing out chaotic and unpredictable sound experiments which may or may not be useful in your personal quest to embetter your true self™.

the music here is highly processed, with just a few remaining audible artifacts of the original 808/909 drums, simple modular synth and basic generative max patches. everything is mashed together in order to create an electronic music that would hopefully throw a wrench in any ai audio dataset that it might have the misfortune of falling into.

all of these tracks were performed live, with a few edits, but stemming not from coding and production but human decision making. the rhythmic parts channel the openness of free jazz drumming, produced with gyson-style cut-up editing.

while the result is potentially playful, it remains something that’s not so easy to listen to on repeat for. this prompted a naming convention at odds with the music itself, inspired by throbbing gristle’s “20 jazz funk greats” album title and cover. this album could therefore be listened to as though it were part of a failed self-help program that should have allowed you, the listener, to train your mind on developing patience and attention through the power of sound.
